Which Side of the Plane to Sit On When Flying to Alaska?
Flights to Anchorage go up the western coast of Alaska and British Columbia. Given clear weather, the last hour and a half is among the most inspiring and sublime we’ve ever spentand reminds us each time why the hell we live somewhere so cold and dark. If you can swing it, sit on the right side when coming into Anchorage (the left tends to look over the water) and the left side when heading south. Also, be sure to sit well behind the wing so you’re view isn’t obstructed.
